I'd like to have a look at that Nintendo handheld game that supposedly is a workout for your brain... Have you ever played that?

Nintendo DS 'Brain Training'

I think you'd like that Taggart.. it exercises those little used brain cells..

there are several different kinds now, you can even learn languages..

here is what is contained in the first 'brain training' game... (thanks Amazon)

Sudoku - Use logic to fill in missing numbers on a grid.
Syllable Count - Count the syllables in well-known phrases.
Reading Aloud - Read classic literature as fast as possible.
Stroop Test - Say the names of colors as they appear.
Word Memory - Memorize words that appear on screen.
Speed Counting - Count to 120 as fast as you can.
Connect Maze - Draw lines to connect letters and numbers in alphabetical and numeric order.
Calculation - Perform simple math problems quickly.
Head Count - Count people as they enter and exit a house.
Triangle Math - Solve math problems in a certain pattern.
Low to High - Memorize the position of numbers, then touch them in order from lowest to highest.

It does work although I have no idea about the empirical value of the game in terms of keeping your brain work.

But playing the game once a day will keep your skills active. You'll be adding up your grocery prices with ease in no time...

Thanks for the info guys. I'd like to check that out as well as whatever similar games there may be for the Wii console.

And coincidentally, last night I played Ms. Pacman on an old table-top game in a hotel lobby. That was nostalgic.

i dont think it 'increases' brain power... just teaches you to use what you have more efficiently..

I'll take whatever I can get.

I think it may be a case of "use it or loose it" so I'd like to look into using it. By the way, do you think reading any particular genre helps in a similar way? I mean with brain function as opposed to acquiring knowledge.
